MDR™ Announces Dave Brown as new Managing Partner

MDR™ is excited to announce the appointment of Dave Brown as MDR’s™ newest Managing Partner.

In his 40+ years of leadership within the California employee benefits community, Dave Brown has demonstrated a magnetic attraction to new ideas and the ability to make them succeed.  Dave and his Cheqs’ colleagues serve as margin improvement advisers to employers, provider organizations, health plans and other risk-bearing organizations; also strategy and distribution advisors for top-of-clinical-class virtual point solutions and platforms that align with CHEQS’ values.

Previously, Dave served as Northern California Area President for Arthur J. Gallagher, Inc’s Benefits & HR Practice. Dave and his team consulted with employers in all risk and group benefit areas, specializing in strategic benefit design, managed health care operations and funding (including captives), employee communications/private exchange, and human capital/productivity issues. Client successes ranged from a national Catholic ERISA trust to a voluntary disability insurance program for the federal judiciary to a leading solar installation company to a global hospitality leader.

Before joining Gallagher in 2004, Dave spent 18 years as a Consultant and Healthcare Practice Leader for other benefits consulting firms – working with such diverse clients as Visa, KLA-Tencor, Plantronics, Pacific Bell, Fireman’s Fund, Potlatch, Intel, Silicon Graphics, and Siebel Systems.

Dave’s career is highlighted by innovation – most notably the co-founding of Benefits Alliance, the first US middle market medical benefits exchange. For Benefits Alliance, Dave guided the launch and ongoing operations – featuring 5 health plans (including Kaiser); creating a standardized risk adjusted rating model; and supervising its profitable operations until its 2001 sale.

Dave began his career with a 10-year stint as an Aetna Group Account Executive in four distinct urban California markets.

Dave graduated in 1976 with an Insurance major from San Diego State University. His proudest personal accomplishment is successfully launching 5 adult children – and now playing with their 8 wonderful grandkids.
